Farm Food Forum

The QFA’s Farm Food Forum uses modern communication technology to bring farmers and rural communities together and is reminiscent of the QFA’s roots, the ‘Farm Radio Forum’ which emanated in the 1940’s.

In its fourth year, QFA President John McCart said, “These Forums provide opportunities for farmers and other interested community members to meet together to listen to experts in their fields and to participate in questions and answers.  By using videoconference technology everyone can participate without having to travel long distances.”

Each evening covers a topic of interest to Quebec’s agricultural producers and rural community.  Taking place in English, the Forums are hosted in Community Learning Centres on the last Thursday of each month from October to April, beginning at 19h30 and ending by 22h00 (excluding December).  Forums are promoted through social media; the QFA website; the association’s official publication, Quebec Farmers’ Advocate; community stakeholders; and word of mouth.  Highlights are published in the Advocate and resources are available on the website.  Here is the program for 2014/15 -

  • Thursday, October 30, 2014 – “Drowning in paperwork? Organising your office and paperwork better”
  • Thursday, November 27, 2014 – “Improving soil nutrient management and crop production”
