Committees
Finance Committee
The standing finance committee is currently composed of:
- Art Abbey
- Gib Drury (QFA President)
- Chris Judd (QFA Vice-President)
- Ivan Hale (Executive director, non-voting)
The committee’s mandate and responsibilities are:
- Reviewing auditors’ reports
- Recommending choice of auditors
- Reviewing salary ranges of full time staff
- Preparing annual budgets for Board consideration
- Preparing annual cash flow projections
- Designing financial reports for the Board
- Recommend policies on Directors’ and staff expenses
- Advising on taxation, banking, credit arrangements, signatories on financial documents, investments, internal management
- Other tasks as may be assigned by the Board
Membership Committee
The ad hoc membership committee was created in 2005 and is composed of:
- Wendall Conner
- Gib Drury (QFA President)
- Ivan Hale
- Michael Knight
- Pamela Ledoux
- John McCart (Chair)
The committee’s mandate and responsibilities are:
- Developing and monitoring implementation of a member recruitment and retention strategy for QFA
- Reviewing and commenting on the design and content of documents/resources used in recruitment efforts
- Surveying members and non-members on the desired benefits of membership
- Advising Board and staff on member categories, fee structures and member benefits
- Advising on the design of the section of the QFA website that provides services to members
- Other tasks as may be assigned by the Board
Communications Committee
The ad hoc Communications committee was created in 2005 and is composed of:
- Gib Drury (Chair)
- Ivan Hale
- Chris Judd
- Pamela Ledoux
- Andrew McClelland
The committee’s mandate and responsibilities are:
- Developing and monitoring implementation of a communications strategy for QFA
- Reviewing and commenting on the design and content of The Quebec Farmers’ Advocate
- Developing and maintaining communication pathways between members and QFA leadership and staff
- Advising on the “corporate” image of QFA, e.g. letterhead, business cards, annual report
- Advising on the design of the QFA website
- Advising on radio, television and/or video programs in which the QFA has an active role
- Advising on potential sponsorship opportunities with the private sector
- Advising on membership information packages
- Advising on media training for QFA spokespersons
- Advising on language policy for QFA
- Other tasks as may be assigned by the Board
By-laws Committee
The ad hoc by-laws committee was created in 2005 and is composed of:
- Douglas Brooks
- Gib Drury
- Bill Fairbairn
- Chris Judd
- John McCart
- Wendall Conner
It was created to revise and update the current QFA constitution and by-laws. No terms of reference have yet been approved for the committee.
